Welcome to the Pacific NW Birder!

Birds are everywhere! They are easily observed. They are intensely alive, fascinating, and often stunningly beautiful. In the Pacific Northwest there are over 500 species, found in field, forest, desert, mountains, wetlands, and coast. Right now, there are birds in your own backyard to see, identify, and enjoy.

If you are new to bird watching, I hope this blog will pique your interest in birds and help you learn more about them. The topics covered in this blog are both birds (identification, status, distribution, natural history) and bird watching (attracting, backyard feeding, fieldcraft technique, bird books and equipment).

This blog also allows me to share my many bird photos. I hope you enjoy them.
